Book A Discovery Call

Let’s paint the picture…

Mark and Patti didn’t grow up on a ranch—but they found their rhythm on one. After years of dreaming, they finally took the leap into homestead farming. This year, they’re raising 10 grass-fed, hormone-free calves right on their property with love, intention, and a whole lot of care.

And now, they’re offering something rare:

The chance to reserve one of these cows before it ever hits the market.

What You Can Expect When You Purchase a Cow

To help you understand what you're getting when you reserve a full grass-fed cow, we've gathered real data based on USDA reports, agricultural extension services, and current market prices (2025).

Live Weight Estimate:

Our grass-fed cattle are finished at approximately 1,200 pounds live weight.

Yield Breakdown:

After slaughter and processing:

  • Hanging weight (carcass): ~660 pounds (≈55% of live weight)

  • Packaged, take-home beef: ~460 pounds (≈70% of carcass weight)

This is the meat you'll take home—steaks, ground beef, roasts, ribs, and more—fully customized based on your preferences.

  • Live Market Value: Grass-fed beef steers typically sell for $2.50–$3.00 per pound live weight. For a 1,200-lb steer, that’s $3,000–$3,600.

  • Processing Fees: Slaughter and custom processing usually add $350–$500, depending on your cut selections and packaging.

  • Estimated Total Investment:
    Around $3,400 to $4,100 all-in.

  • Cost Per Pound of Packaged Beef:
With approximately 460 pounds of meat, your final cost averages $7.40 to $8.90 per pound—and that includes premium cuts and custom processing.

đź›’ Grocery Store Comparison

By comparison, retail prices for grass-fed beef in grocery stores and direct-to-consumer farms are:

  • Ground Beef (90/10): ~$9.49/lb

  • Ribeye Steaks: ~$43.98/lb

  • Sirloin Steaks: ~$24.99/lb

  • Roasts (London Broil): ~$15.00/lb

Purchasing directly from the ranch offers significant savings—especially considering you're getting all the cuts, not just the inexpensive ones.
